About

I’m about to embark on a 2-month adventure to Peru, Argentina and Chile – this blog is a place for me to collect photos and memories from the trip, and for friends and family to keep track of my exploits.

This will be the biggest trip I’ve done since my 20s – and to say that I’m as nervous as I am excited is an understatement. The itinerary has been thrown together in a matter of weeks and the last few days in particular have seen a mad flurry of accommodation and internal flight bookings as I’ve scrabbled to get as much admin as possible done from the convenience of my laptop which is not coming with me.

My rough itinerary is: Fly to Lima, then on to Arequipa and Colca Canyon to acclimatise before continuing to Cusco where I’ve booked to do the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. A few days more in Cusco afterwards for day trips and possibly another multi-day hike. Then onto Huaraz for more day treks and possibly the Huayhuash trek if the weather holds up and if I can find a group to join (the main trekking season is coming to an end around now so I’ve been struggling to find a group departure for the dates I have available).

After Huaraz it’s on to Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Atacama Desert and then Torres Del Paine National Park where I’ve booked to do the O Trek (full 7-day circuit of the national park). Finally on to El Chalten and Fitzroy before flying home from Buenos Aires. Phew!

P.s. I didn’t choose the Quote of the Day that appears below this post – it just appeared as part of the pre-packaged WordPress theme. But I do like it! 😊
